My Favorite Spots in LA
Hi guys, sorry it's been so long! I've been so stressed with school and life in general I just needed to take time to really focus on me and get myself together. In that time I embarked on the most amazing road trip through California with my friends, and it was honestly the best experience of my life. We started the trip in San Francisco. Then, we stopped in Palo Alto to see some friends at Stanford and after that continued our way down the coast. We took highway 1 so that we could see Big Sur and it was literally so breathtaking. After about 6 hours of driving we made our way to LA.
Los Angeles has always been one of my favorite places. I have so much love for Chicago, but I am a child of the sun and lover of water so naturally LA is the place for me. Los Angeles has some of the best hidden spots for food or even just street art that I've ever had/seen. I know some of you all are from LA are taking trips out west so I thought it might be nice to have some insight on where to go. I decided to break this post down into two parts. First, I'm going to do food, and then after that I'll talk a little bit about destinations.
I am a HUGE breakfast person, and usually eating just a donut doesn't cut it for me. After having just half of a donut from Birdies though, I was stuffed. Birdies is a cute little local donut shop tucked away near the Museum of Contemporary art. Their donuts are not only extremely Instagram worthy, but also delicious. They have unique flavors like galaxy, pistachio thyme and lemon, white chocolate strawberry (pictured), and dulce de leche. The donuts are a bit pricey, but in my opinion they are totally worth it.
Another great thing about this spot is that it's so close to so many downtown activities. Like I said the MCA and The Broad are both walking distance from Birdies. When I was here my friends and I parked in Birdies parking lot and walked around downtown from there. It saved us a ton of driving time and we paid a lot less for parking.
Next on my list for food would have to be Perch. Perch is an upscale French Restaurant in downtown LA. Not only is the food amazing (pictured left) but Perch is also rooftop restaurant so the views are INSANE. This place definitely isn't a destination if you are trying to save money, but if you feel like treating yourself I highly recommend it.

Lastly, I am a soft serve addict so of course I would have to find a place with amazing soft serve. BAE in Little Tokyo is not only the cutest and most picture worthy, but also the best ice cream I've ever had. Charcoal ice cream had been on my food bucket list forever and I'm so happy I finally got to try it. This was a pineapple charcoal and vanilla twist in a charcoal cone. This low key place definitely earned its spot as one of my favorite places to eat.
Now, I'll get into my favorite spots in the city. This is so so so hard because I love all of LA so much, but there is of course some places that hold an extra special spot in my heart. First on the list is Venice beach. Venice is such a cute area, the beach is stunning and covered in art. There's also a skate park, and tons of little food and knickknack shops to browse through as well.
Venice is also an amazing place to people watch, because it's somewhat of a hippie area of the city. You can watch people feed the birds or try their hand at skateboarding. This is a beach for the free spirited souls who just want a place to rest their head and enjoy life at its fullest.
My favorite thing to do here was ride my bike up and down the street and just watch everyone. There's also an amazing donut place called Blue Star Donuts and tons and tons of little boutiques to window shop at. It's so easy to spend a sunny afternoon here and enjoy the views.

Although it's not exactly in LA, Laguna Beach is one of the most California-esque places I have visited. The beaches are surrounded by beautiful homes and tide pools to wade in on nice days. Aside from the beach, the town itself is completely to die for. Laguna is an extremely wealthy city and it definitely shows when visiting. Local flower shops and restaurants line the main street and create such a welcoming environment. I also discovered the most amazing place to eat called Active Culture. This place is dedicated to serving quality ingredients that you and your body will love.
Things are a bit pricey in Laguna, but in my opinion it's worth it especially because you are shopping local. The beach pictured to the left is 1000 Steps Beach and is located only minutes from the main part of town. Everything in Laguna is super relaxed and the people are so welcoming.

Last, but certainly not least, is LA's art district. The art district actually starts right by Little Tokyo and takes over a huge chunk of LA. Here, you can find the murals like the iconic wings but also a ton of art that has to do with social justice and our world in general.
I loved this area because of how much it reminded me of myself. When I was there, there were so so many photographers and bloggers taking pictures and just enjoying the area and it was nice to see people who also loved what I loved.
You could easily spend a whole day in the art district and still not see all of it. There is everything here from statues made of tires to giant cats painted on the sides of buildings. In addition to that there's also tons of amazing food to resolve any and every craving you have. I personally loved Pie Hole, the most out of the restaurants I visited there. But to say I even scraped the surface of all the food opportunities would be a complete lie because there is so so much.
Thank you to everyone who still keeps up with this blog even when I can't be as active as I want to be. Your love and support means literally everything to me. Have the best day ever, babes!
